Week 13, Day 6 (Phonus Interruptus, aka "She who lives by the phone, shall die by the phone")

Discovered another Murphy's Law today: the more pressing the deadline multiplied by complexity of the tasks required to complete same, is the square root of the number of phone calls you'll get. This increases exponentially the closer you get to the deadline. 90% of these calls will be telemarketers, tyre kickers & bored friends.

Then to make life interesting, your husband rings you in a panic - he needs some vital irrigation supplies in order to get the water back on to the client's garden tonight, the shop closes in 20 minutes, and he can't go because his truck is filled with bark.

Decision time: Do you reply -
A. "Yes of course darling, it's not like I was in the middle of saving the world or anything, tell me what you need, Oh Lord And Master!" (sarcastic? Nah... you must be confusing me with someone else)

B. Scream incoherently, wipe away tears of frustration, write down his shopping list, then exit stage left, still whimpering.

C. "No! I've got an emergency situation too, the newly planted shrubs can curl up and die!"

If your answer is "D - a desperate, simultaneous mixture of all three responses", then congratulations - you're a winner.

Update on neighbourhood drama:
Two council staff visited yesterday before going next door armed with a camera and (hopefully) some toothy council by-laws. Listened thoughtfully to my concerns, expressed some concerns for their own safety (the gun comment made them uneasy, can't think why), and departed with much trepidation. They will write to me to advise the outcome; fingers, toes and eyes all crossed that it's helpful and effective. I'll keep you posted.

I'm finding that 12 hours straight on a computer is murderous to one's back. I can't sit as close to the desk as I normally do (ye gods this does not bode well for months down the track!), so tend to hunch. Eeek.. time to get a warratah and tie it to my spine, then grow longer arms.

On the positive front, the all-day-blurgh seems to be only occasional now (and of course today was one of those occasions), and the exhaustion seems to be in remission. My gratitude for these improvements is only exceeded by my internal stress about the time lost thus far.

Two more sleeps and we're into the second trimester... YAHOOOOOOOOO!!!
