A quick but worthy gripe

If you read this post and say "Hey! I resemble that remark", then I hope you're shamed into an improvement.

Parents - it is NOT COOL to allow your children (who are big enough to walk, ie in school uniform) to stand or sit in the main food-carrying section of a supermarket trolley. Other people (yes they do exist) would like to put their food in that trolley when you're finished with it. It is also not safe for your child.

Show some responsibility as a parent and a citizen, and think about hygiene for a moment. Would you let your child stomp around in their dirty shoes all over your kitchen bench right before you prepare dinner? No, I didn't think so.

I kept bumping into a nattily dressed young mum in Hornby Pak-N-Save yesterday. Two kids, both of whom rode the trolley. The older child would be at least six, and the other about four. She was more interested in buying wine than the safety of her children or the health concerns of others.

Such was her oblivion to the rest of the world that she backed her large Fendalton Tractor (4WD) right into the queue of vehicles trying to make their slow way out of the weirdly designed carpark. I know this for a fact because OUR car was the one she would have hit first, had we not somehow got out of her way.

A totally stirling individual. Buggered if I know what a townie like her would want with a 4WD big enough to tow two horsefloats, several circus caravans, and a coal train. But you see them, don't you. Hopefully you see them in time to avoid being run over.
