Week 37, Day 4 (It's raining, it's snowing, we're not bloody going..)

If I have something important the next day, I tend not to sleep very well the night before.

Yeah, I'm an idiot like that.

Last night the Wobble decided to help me out, just in case I'd forgotten to be wakeful, and was a genuine pain in the ass for most of the night. Due to the dog (and the muggy hot night) I can tell you that the rain started here at 12.05 am, and Wobble got up and wandered around at 1.08, 2.12, 3.44 and finally at 4.01 I lost patience and threw his mouldy hairy butt outside.

It was still persisting down, btw.

Because I'm not entirely heartless, I let him back in again a few minutes later, and he must have satisfied whatever urge was keeping us both awake, because he let me sleep through until Wayne woke me at 6.12am to say the alarm hadn't gone off, and that it was snowing.

(mumblefunff won't settle on all that rain ya coulda woken me in anover halv an hour snumf who cares g'night)

But a sleep in wasn't to be - if the roads were nasty we'd have to set off earlier, so get your lazy ass out of bed woman, and make with the porridge.

To cut a long story shorter, the snow DID settle, and in fact got a hell of a lot heavier. In two hours we'd had a few inches, and in another two hours had yet more inches with more predicted. I rescheduled the scan for tomorrow, because it just didn't seem smart to risk driving in the snow with such a large, fragile bump.

The power's been on and off most of the day, which is actually several steps up from our usual snow powerlessness (last time we had this much snow, we had no power for two days!)

Luckily we had an old corded telephone so that the outside world could be reached even if the cordless phones were out (never mind we have two cells, LOL).

The phone has rung red hot all day with people thinking I must be like a cow, ie pick the worst possible weather to give birth in! Both grannies, an auntie and a friend - all anxiously checking in to make sure no one has to brave the elements, especially the baby.

As for His Lordship, he's spent a VERY productive day belting the hell out of my right hip and ribs. (What was the theme to the movie "The Great Escape" and did I hear it faintly hummed as he dug??)

He's warm & comfy, if a little cramped, and if he's going to make an entrance today I'd venture to suggest it's not via the usual channels ;-)

Cute sight of the day was Wayne chucking snow balls for Poodle, who thought it was the most marvelous fun! Dogs obviously don't need to brush with Sensidine!
