Addendum: Great expectations

I thought I reported on this, but it seems I forgot, and it's too funny not to share.

We were in a baby store on Monday, buying the last of the baby things, when the sales assistant asked us if this was our first grandchild.

I goggled at her in shock, then pointedly rubbed my HUGE belly and said "No, it's our first CHILD", and softened the correction with a giggle.

Poor woman went a little pink, but otherwise decided to pretent the gaffe never happened.

We paid, exited, and I didn't get half way to the door before the giggles took me over and laughter erupted out of me, to Wayne's great embarrassment. It seems he had heard the woman after all, and was also trying to pretend it never happened.

Nah... times like this, you run with it and enjoy it to the max!

Maybe it's my imagination, but I'm fairly sure I don't look old enough to be a grandmother (belly aside). Yeah, technically I could, at 42, have a grandchild. One of my sisters was a grandmother twice over at my age, and she certainly doesn't look like a granny now, despite both babies now being school age.

...oo0oo...

And while we're digging into the 'ya gotta be kidding me' file, I got an email tonight from the girlfriend of a client, pushing me to bump them to the top of the 'get done before baby arrives' queue.

At least that's what I'm picking is in the email - I haven't actually opened it yet.

But leopards & spots and all that. (ie, she's a bit of a cracked record)

They've been on holiday (lucky them!) now they're back and think I'm as rested and refreshed as they are :-)

I'm already going at a speed faster than I thought womanly possible, getting all the end-of-years done without being spurred on by a client's micromanaging GIRLFRIEND (grins). She's... ahem... HE's third from the top on my urgent list, and that's my best offer. The email can sit there in the "I'm loudly ignoring you" folder for another day or three.

Hey, who says call screening only works for telephones ;-)
