Week 37, Day 7 (Midwife checkup)

I slept marvelously well again last night! Almost nothing hurt when I woke up this morning, and baby didn't wake up for the usual parade of kicks and squirms in the shower. He finally stirred his stumps when breakfast reached him, then went back to sleep soon afterwards.

I got a very good score on Trade Me, the other day. Wayne's quite the TM addict lately, and often can be found prowling through the listings looking for bargains. He found a trader who had two maternity bras in my size for sale, of the exact brand of the one I've found so comfy.

So we bid, and ended up with these two almost new bras for less than the price of a single one via retail. Yesssss!!!!

Midwife visit again went well.
Bp 130/72
Weight down 600 grams from last time
Peestick showed some blood, so we could be on our way shortly!

Baby lying well in position, well down at the top of the fundus, and a good strong heartbeat.

The results of Tuesday's tests were in: he's now just below the 90th percentile, so we probably won't have to go c/section unless he gets too far over term or any complications develop. Robyn's booking me a visit with the hospital obstetrician just to be on the safe side, and says this appt will probably be in about 2-3 weeks.

Pah. Kidlet will be here by then, if his mother has anything to say about it ;-)

But if he's still in residence, then we'll be nicely situated to arrange a friendly eviction ceremony, thanks to the Ob/Gyn appointment.

I've caught up on a lot of client work lately, clearing my schedule nicely to have at least a month off post-baby. It didn't look like I'd get the client (with the pushy girlfriend) done in time, but if his bank pulls finger and gets me the info I've been asking for for months, AND they get it to me in the next few days, I can get him done too. That would be nice - otherwise I'll have to work right through and I really don't want to do that!

I'll be very ready to rest on my laurels after that :-) A day off shopping to get those last few bits and pieces (some spare bottles & teats, some muslin wraps and a mega long t-shirt to birth in) then it will be on with the comb, the baths and the more funner encouragement to get this baby moving!

Btw, we finalised the birth plan with Robyn today, and agreed that Chch Womens is probably the way to go, then get back out to Lincoln asap afterwards. I don't mind - I'm still in awe and envy of that huge white tub!

You have GOT to have the only husband on the planet who would spend his spare time, UNSOLICITED, shopping for maternity bras. Hell, that he'd even notice one when it went by is amazing. What nuclear reactor did you find him next to, anyway? ;)

Hell Mb, I'll go further. He not only SHOPS for them, but fronts up to the sales assistants and asks them why the store does not stock (to quote) "reasonable sizes for pregnant women. Don't you know that 60% of women are size 16 or over, so more than half of pregnant women need maternity bras in logical sizes!"

He's very very nice about it, and it's gorgeous to watch the expressions on the faces of the sales assistants when (shock horror) a male not only feels comfortable and unselfconscious in the lingere section, but can hold forth a coherent conversation regarding same.

You don't need to tell me that I've got a totally fantastic bloke - what's gorgeous is that he thinks he's barely adequate, LOL!
