Week 40, Day 5 (Goooooood vibrations!)

Whew! We got through yesterday and got all those clients done, with no appreciable dramas. Wayne's growling because ***apparently*** he needs a Goods & Services Licence for the truck, which costs several hundred dollars, and does precisely nothing except gather revenue for the govt. The technician said it's a bit of a grey area, so we're going to carry on down the path of inadequacy, and take our ruddy chances ;-)

We're selling the truck soon anyway, and the next one will just have to be a bit smaller and thus more likely to be overloaded, but if that's what we have to do to comply with the stupid law, then that's what we'll do ;-)

No wonder Wayne's cross, though. He's done everything possible to comply with the law, even to rining LTSA and asking if he needed to keep a log book for their purposes (A: No, you don't go 50kms outside your base area). He bought a bigger truck than any other landscaper uses, because of the times he has to cart a lot of rubbish away from jobs. THEY blythely get overloaded, HE wanted to be safer. Now he's being penalised for it. Bugger this ;-)

Anyhoo, back to the other working partner in this family (grins..). I collected work on the way home yesterday, and that combined with the stuff already on my desk should keep me out of mischief for the next few days. Then... oh boy .... THEN I will be work-free for the rest of the calendar year! It's been quite a slog, but the wet weather keeping Wayne at home helping me, and the too-comfy-to-shift baby has meant I'll get a very nice long break from work!

This is too exciting for words.. an actual holiday! The first break I've had in six years!! (I wish Wayne could have one too, he deserves it, poor bugger)

I wonder if my back will hold out til then? Each day sees an increase in back pain, and last night (when our nightly Claytons Contractions hit) I gave up, wimped out, and lay in bed with the Tens machine on.

I'd been holding off on this until I **needed** it, but last night I really needed it. I think I need it again today, while I sit at the computer.. we'll see.

Damn, but that's a clever gadget. I've had a Tens machine for years (long term RSI) but the old clunker isn't a patch on the new one. This one rolls, thrums, pulses, jabs or trembles ... or combines some of those options throughout the four pads to act like a massage. It only goes for 15 minutes at a time (they actually say "do not use if pregnant" which is bizarre!) before switching off, to stop you going to sleep with it on.

Hey that's a definite possibility! After days of clenched muscles, aching nerves and throbbing joints causing crappy sleep, getting relief has a definite drowsy effect ;-)

Love the box though.. how's this for another classic misinterpretation into English!

Slimming Massager: let fat exercise burn and decompose

(Another reason not to sleep with it on???)

Anyhoo, there's been a bit of a development on baby-front (that noise you hear is my mother howling in frustration, that she had to read THIS FAR to find THIS OUT NOW???).

Our midwife has been called across the ditch (ie, to Australia) to attend a family crisis, and won't be back until Sunday night. She's asked me to hold off having baby until Monday, but if I absolutely cannot manage this, then Carol (backup midwife) will be happy to assist.

I'm totally cool with this - Carol rocks! While Robyn is and has been wonderful, Carol is of the same mindset as me, ie 'cut the crap, tell me straight, don't annoy me by softening it because I don't do PC!'.

Only one problem though.. (and trust Wayne to think of it).. if Carol does end up delivering baby, who gets the Tens machine we bought as a thank you present? And what does the other midwife get? (The first who says "buy another Tens machine" will get whapped over the head with a wet tea leaf.. I'm brutal like that)

I vote you get them each a certificate for a REAL hands-on massage and keep the TENS for you. Something tells me you'll miss it dearly if you let it go now.

Ooooo, a HOLILDAY!!!! And what does she go and do with it, the first one she's had in a decade? Have a BABY??? Ok, well each to her own. Keeping everything crossed you get this last bit done and are truly free all year afterward. Kudos!

Nope, no one is parting me from MY Tens machine! We bought two at the same time :-) Besides, it's a bit rude to give something as a present when it's second hand (although I can think of a few exceptions, like parrots..).

So you don't just keep one on each side of the bed? I gotta look into these things for my aching back. Is it legal to use them if you aren't preggers? Oh, and is there an electrocution danger if used in a waterbed? Hee....

Here's to a more eventful day some time in the near future.
